Berlin, You’re So Anti-Fashun
Some Observations On Berlin Style
So it’s been about a week now that I’ve been visiting Berlin so that pretty much makes me an expert on all there is to know about the fashion scene here right? Maybe it’s the area I’m staying in (Neukolln) or the places I’ve been (literally every nightclub) but there’s like a really strong punk-grunge-goth-ish vibe that’s really big with the Berlin scenesters. If you think NY’ers were the only ones doing the all black all the time thing, you’d be surprised to know that Berlin does it do and dare I say they do it better? Drapey black tees, baggy shorts, satin bombers, platforms, and crew socks…they LOVE a good crew sock/shorts look here. It’s more about the perfectly imperfect than the polished looks I’m used to seeing and it’s kinda cool to see the differences in style here in Berlin vs. New York. Anyway, while here I got to check out some of the shows at Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week and obviously I was like OMG what do I wear?! Naturally I stuck to black and white - an easy and always appropriate combo. No new pieces here, just oldies but goodies, but I think they come together nicely for a cool yet casual Berlin look.
